   The place is authentic with ancient stone walls and a romantic atmosphere.


   The restaurant La Maison de Verlaine welcomes you for lunch from 12 AM to 3 PM, and for dinner from 6 PM to 11.30 PM. (We are closed on Wednesdays all day and on Thursdays for lunch).

    In this house, one of the most famous French poets Paul Verlaine died of alcoholism and misery.

Born in Metz in 1844, he published his first poems in 1866. He got married with Mathilde Mauté in 1870 and wrote “La Bonne Chanson” for her. He met Arthur Rimbaud in 1871 with whom he had a passionate and stormy love story.
